Not the Rio Marathon
Not the Rio Marathon is both an interesting concept and a great opportunity to run somewhere very special (that’s not Rio.) Too often we hear events described as ‘once in a lifetime’, but in this case it’s hard to argue as this on-off race will take place on the same day as the 2016 Olympic marathon only racing around the site of London 2012. Novel, no?
This traffic-free multi-lap course has a route that encompasses the VeloPark road circuit and surrounding paths wholly within the Lee Valley area of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The strict 5-hour cut-off inside the Olympic velodrome, means that all finishers will be stretching out and enjoying a well-deserved drink in time to watch the pros in the final stages of the Rio race. Finisher’s medal and tech long-sleeve top included too…
Entry fees for the Not the Rio Marathon are set at £35 for affiliated runners and £38 for non-affiliated – booking fees apply. Full details and entry at eventbrite.co.uk
