The Ridgeway Challenge

The Ridgeway ChallengeThe Ridgeway Challenge – August 27, 2016

The Ridgeway Challenge covers the 86miles (138km) of 5000-year-old trail along the entirety of the Ridgeway covering both the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs. Way marked throughout and with 9,000 feet of ascent, navigation is relatively easy and the event is well supported, organised and manageable within the 28hour time limit.

Whilst Race to the Stones covers much of the same route – with both events ending at the spectacular Avebury Neolithic site – The Ridgeway allows runners the opportunity to cover the entire distance, not ‘just’ 100k. The Ridgeway Challenge is also more low-key, with less of a feel of mass-participation. Beautiful and challenging in turns this is a race that should be on everyone’s list.

The event is also an absolute bargain at £60 for unaffiliated runners – that’s half the price of Race to the Stones. Full details and entry at
