Bewl Water Marathon
Bewl Water Marathon – May 8, 2016
A perfectly scenic and gently undulating late spring marathon (plus half marathon option) based around Bewl Water, Lamberhurst, Kent. Both distances start from the Bewl Water Visitor Centre and following the Bewl round the reservoir route on a combination of rural wooded trail and quiet country lanes, with views of the lake for much of the run. The Bewl Water Marathon comprises a double lap, whilst the half runs just once around the course.
The route features fixed event organisers signage throughout in addition to permanent brown signs indicating the round the reservoir titled ‘Bewl Water Route.’ Combined with the fact that this is a reservoir loop and navigation certainly shouldn’t be an issue. The course has four checkpoints per loop (so eight in total for marathon distance) with GU energy gels, water, squash, flapjacks, jelly babies, crisps and bananas up for graps.
Changing facilities, parking (for participants), bag drop, chip timing and finishers medal are all included in the Bewl Water Marathon entry fee. Costs: marathon at £35 affiliated and £37 unaffiliated, half marathon £27 affiliated / £25 unaffiliated.
