Jurassic Coast Challenge

Jurassic Coast ChallengeJurassic Coast Challenge – March 18-20, 2016

The Jurassic Coast Challenge is an epic run covering 3 marathons in 3 days along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. There’s a degree of self-navigation – full maps and briefing on each day – but the course follows the well-marked trail and keeping the sea on your right and land on the left is the general rule.

Each of the three days of the Jurassic Coast Challenge offer up their own unique angle on ultra-running. Day one includes Golden Cap (the highest cliffs on the southern coast) and the suffer-fest that is Chesil Beach. Day two starts urban with a loop around Portland before taking on the rollercoaster cliffs towards Durdle Door. Day three – Lulworth Cove to Shell Bay – doesn’t let up either with a taxing mix of trail, hills and beach.

There are various packages on offer (including accommodation) with individual days at £55 per person. But why do an individual day? This is the mighty Jurassic Coast Challenge, so doing the whole thing is the only ‘sensible’ option.
