Ellis Brigham TrailBlaster12
Taking place at Towneley Park, Lancashire (map here) the Ellis Brigham TrailBlaster12 Ultramarathon is a 12-hour off-road relay race and ultra marathon set against the clock on the longest day of the year. Organisers say, ‘Whether you’re a 5-minute miler or 15-minute miler, everyone is welcome…’ and regardless if you choose to run solo, in pairs or teams of four or five it looks to be a challenge you won’t quickly forget.
So how does it work? One team member must be on the course at all times during the 12 hours of ‘play’ and must complete one full 5k lap before changing over with a teammate – most laps completed wins. Pretty simple, but far from easy.
Entry to the Ellis Brigham TrailBlaster12 includes aid stations stocked with water, flat coke, Serious Stamina Energy Drinks, and energy bars, free race Buff, chip timing, race commentary and, of course, full martialing and medical assistance. There’s also on-site catering and camping available for an additional fee. Ellis Brigham and inov-8 will be on hand for you to take a look at some of the latest kit on offer and there are also be a range of spot prizes up for grabs courtesy of Ellis Brigham.
Entry fees are £50 solo, £80 per pair and £185 for teams of four or five. Part of the profits will go to the Pendleside Hospice.
