Trionium Greensand Marathon
Voted Britain’s best marathon in 2010 and now including a half marathon option the Trionium Greensand Marathon is not only one of the UK’s best, but also one of it’s toughest. Like hills? You’ll love Greensand with something like a vertical mile of climb there’s barely a flat section to be found… From the Nower in Dorking via Westcott and Wolvens Lane to the Plough at Coldharbour and then to the top of South East England’s highest point, Leith Hill – and then, following the Greensand Way, taking in the summits of Somerset Hill, Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill, Reyards Hill and Winterfold Hill (and back.)
Be warned: the strictly enforced time limit to gain Leith Hill Tower for the first time (at the quarter way point, 6.55 miles) in 1:13 makes for a lung-busting start and there’s still almost 20miles to go. Also note you’ll need to bring your singing voice as the race traditionally starts with the massed singing of Jerusalem.
Race entry to the Trionium Greensand Marathon £43.00 affiliated, £45.00 unaffiliated – full details and entry at Trionium.com
