The Stort30

The Stort30The Stort30 – October 26, 2014

If you’re stepping up to ultra-distance there are worse places to start than with the Stort30. At a mere 30 miles, you’re only looking at 10k beyond the marathon distance and the course is flat with generous cut-off times – 3.5 hours for the half-way point and 7 hours for the full distance. The course is a pretty out-and-back along the River Stort Navigation Channel in Hertfordshire and the route is mostly grassy trail or graded footpath with only the first half a mile on footpaths (and the last half mile on the way back of course.)

The start/finish and HQ is at Bishop’s Stortford Running Club (Hockerill Sports and Social Club), Beldams Lane, Bishop’s Stortford (map here) and there are checkpoints every 5miles with water/squash and basic provisions. Entry for The Stort30 is just £30 – £1 a mile seems like good value to us, especially as you get a race T and medal too. Full details and entry at challenge-running.co.uk
