Total Warrior 10 Miles
Set in the ruggedly beautiful Lake District the Total Warrior, now in its fourth year, offers up hills, mud, rivers and woodlands in addition to a fearsome assortment of ‘fun’ obstacles. With on-course challenge names including Death Valley, Widow Maker, Claustrophobe and The Trenches participants should have little doubt as to what they are in for. The course follows the 10k option (staged the previous day) and then throws in a further brutal 4mile fell run, which is separately timed to determine the ‘King of the Mountain’ winner.
Plenty of runners attend for a full weekend and there’s an emphasis on team competition – the bigger the team, the bigger the entry fee discount; but even lone-warriors (assuming a penchant for pain) should fine much to enjoy here.
The £90 entry fee (£140 for both the 10k and 10mile) includes finisher’s t-shirt, a ‘victory beer’, branded headband and a temporary Total Warrior tattoo. Blisters are thrown in for free…
