Shires & Spires

Go Beyond UltraShires & Spires – June 1, 2014

Based at the impressive Lamport Hall in Northamptonshire, the Shires & Spires is a 35mile ultra-marathon loop taking in stunning scenery and some of the most interesting country houses and historical sites in England; aside from Lamport the race passes Naseby, Althorp (home of the Spencer family) and Cottesbrooke (the house Jane Austen used as the basis for Mansfield Park).

There are five check points on the Shires & Spires, located at approximately 5-6 mile intervals, each with water, GU energy gels, jelly babies and the famous Go Beyond fruit cake – plus savouries at CP3. Tea, coffee and cake are available for all athletes at the finish, making this event both a feast for the eyes and stomach.

Race entry is £39 with an option for free entry in exchange for a commitment to raise a minimum of £200 for the Teach Africa charity – full details and online entry for the Shires & Spires at gobeyondultra.co.uk
