Staged in the grounds of High Gosforth Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, the EnduRun24 sees runners tackle as many laps of the 10km course as possible within 24 hours. Starting from midday on the Saturday, the 24-hour challenge can be tackled either solo or in teams of up to 24(which seems like cheating to us), with prizes available for each category. The course will be based around a central basecamp where participants can set up their tents for the duration of the event and soak up the atmosphere – including entertainment and round the clock food outlets – when not out on the track.
For solo runners breaks can be taken from the course as required, and it is permissible to have a support person present for assistance with on-course sustenance; pairs and teams must ensure that each member completes at least one lap and only the official entry/exit point (with chip timing) can be used for substituting team members. Beyond that the rules are pretty simple, run as far as you – or your team – can in 24hour and bring a torch for the night…
Entry fees for the EnduRun24 are: Solo £60, Pairs £100, Group 3-5 £200, Group 6-8 £280, Group 24 £360, further details and online entry at endurun24.co.uk
