Thames Trot Ultra
Pancake flat for the most part and amongst the easiest ultras in the UK to navigate the Thames Trot 50 leaves only the challenging distance to worry about. With a time limit of 11 hours things kick off from the Prince of Wales Pub at Iffley Lock ear Oxford and follow the well-marked Thames path to the finish at Henley, with well stocked feed stations (five in total at approximate 8mile intervals) and generally good crowd support thanks to the paths popularity with walkers and those of a generally less-ultra bent, the Thames Trot is a picturesque start to the year.
The 2014 event is officially sold out but there are still places available for those willing to sign up for charity places in aid of either Teach Africa or Cure Parkinson’s; a commitment to raising a minimum of £200, including Gift Aid, is required for the former and £250 for the latter.
