Rough ‘n’ Tumble
No better way to start the new-year than with some truly challenging trail. The Rough ‘n’ Tumble may only be a 10miler (about 10.4miles to be exact) but the hills are plentiful and steep. Very Steep. With a sense of low-key local event, but impeccably organised and marshaled, the Rough ‘n’ Tumble starts from Milton Lilbourne Village Hall in Wiltshire, taking runners up (and up) trails that are often slick with mud at this time of year. This is heart-pounding trail at its best, with slop and water over knee-height at times – but with highlights like the Giant’s Grave on offer what do you expect? If all that isn’t enough to tempt you then know this: back in the village hall finishers face the most impressive smorgasbord of cakes we have ever witnessed…
More than tough enough for even the most experienced trail runner (and proper bragging rights for the novice) the Rough ‘n’ Tumble is £10 affiliated and £12 unaffiliated with further details and online entry at grassrootsevents.co.uk – no entries on the day, as this event is invariably oversubscribed.
