Yurbuds Inspire Pro Headphones

If you enjoy running to your favourite music but have concerns about the safety of doing so (there’s a time and a place for it) then possibly the Yurbuds Inspire Pro Headphones hold the answer. RunningMonkey plugged in and put them to the test.

Like all of their models the top of the range Inspire Pro features interchangeable sized soft silicone covers for near-bespoke fit and the Yurbuds ‘TwistLock Technology’ which keeps them firmly in place by plugging into the ear and twisting through 90degrees to wedge snuggly behind the antitragus (the bit that sticks up at the bottom of the ear.) For safety the headphones feature what Yurbuds call ‘Ambient Noise Awareness’ – this means that, despite the snug fit, a degree of sound is still channelled into the ear keeping you aware of both surroundings and any potential dangers. Whilst we found this worked well, the only downside came when we ran with a headwind, which then whistled horribly through the channels.

The sound quality proved impressive for in-ear headphones, with the 15mm dynamic driver delivering rich mid- and top-ranges with only the bass elements sounding slightly fogged and dull. Running is never the environment for true appreciation of the finer qualities of tonality but the Yurbuds do a fine job regardless.

For use with iPhones and iPods the Yurbud Inspire Pro features an in-line ‘dry-mic’ control which allows not only for volume adjustment, but track skipping, pausing, and call taking – though why you might take a call on a run (unless it’s from your physio) is a mystery.

The Yurbuds Inspire Pro Headphones are £60RRP and available from, amongst other places, – further information at or take a look at the video below to see the ‘TwistLock Technology’ in action.
